Winter Solstice Hike at White Pines
A great group with everyone passing Dendrology 101 (the study of trees). What a beautiful day preceding the “darkest evening of the year”.

Grand Trees of Chatham visits 4-H Adventure Day Camp
Several Grand Trees of Chatham Board members presented a program for campers at the Chatham County 4-H Adventure Day Camp held at Northwest Park in June. The campers learned to identify trees using a key-coded book provided by the NC Cooperative Extension Chatham County Center and with the help of County Extension Director Dr. Ginger Cunningham, 4-H camp leaders and GTOC volunteers. As campers identified trees, we talked about all the services trees provide. Many campers described special trees in their lives and many adventures related to trees! We closed out our visit with a hike on the trail at Northwest Park where we identified trees and other natural wonders along the trail.
It was a fun day for our Board members and the staff–and most importantly, for the 4-H campers!
We look forward to doing more programs with the County 4-H program!
